Prudence Strome
I have lived in Simi Valley since
the age of five. I remember the days of undeveloped hills and fields
that used to be such a big part of the valleys charm. I took an early
interest in history in school and had decided to seek my degree in the
subject before leaving high school. In august of 2002 I saw an
advertisement in the Simi Valley recorder requesting Docent volunteers
at Strathearn Park, and joined the Docent team at the start of the Ghost
Tour season
While continuing to work at
Strathearn once a month I graduated with my degree in History from Cal
State Northridge in 2004. I now work for Farmers Insurance as a
commercial lines underwriter. While this profession is not ideal for a
history lover, it does allow me to continue my true love serving my Lord
Jesus Christ with the bus route and children of her church, Calvary
Baptist in Simi.
It is really the stories about
people that I love most; rather than the dates and facts. It is the
stories about the people who once called my home town their home as
well. Who were born, grew up, lived, loved, cried, rejoiced, and passed
out of this world in this valley.
