SCHOOL TOURS of STRATHEARN PARK
Continuity and Change:
Third Grade Local History in the Simi Valley
“Students in grade three learn about our connections to the past and the ways in which particularly local, but also regional and national, government and traditions have developed and left their marks on current society, providing common memories. Emphasis is on the physical and cultural landscape of California, including the study of American Indians, the subsequent arrival of immigrants and the impact they have had in forming the character of our contemporary society”
From Simi Valley Unified School District History-Social Studies Content Standards
All third grade classes from public and private schools within Simi Valley are invited to tour the Strathearn Historical Park and Museum as part of the third grade course of study. All students will be taken on a Docent led tour of the park that has been specifically prepared to correspond to the third grade course of study. Each teacher will have the option to have the Gift Shop open or closed for the tour.
All third grade teachers will receive an invitation letter; sent out in September. Teachers will sign up using Google form.
School tours will take place between January and May.
